PRESS RELEASE - October 7, 2004

The Ashtabula County Democrat Women’s group was reestablished on Monday October 4th at a meeting.   Over 70 women were in attendance.  The group met at the Ashtabula County Democrat Headquarters, 2215 Lake Ave in Ashtabula. 

Former County Commissioner Jean Bento opened the meeting.  The women’s group elected new officers:  President, Peggy Wilkinson; Vice President, Chris Tredent; and Secretary, Kim Whitcroft-Parker. 

Special guest was Jan Roller, the national coordinator for the WOMEN FOR KERRY campaign. She gave a presentation on the importance of the women’s vote.  Federal, State and County Democratic candidates also gave brief presentations and discussions on their platforms. 

The group will focus its efforts on issues that have particular importance to women.  The next meeting has already been scheduled for Thursday October 14th, at the Democratic Headquarters location.  The next meeting is open to all women of the community.  For more information, please visit the Ashtabula County Democratic Party web site at www.ashtabuladems.org
